What makes your landscape design services different?

We design landscapes that celebrate native plants, ecological biodiversity, and long-term sustainability. We never use generic plant palettes, and instead choose species suited to our area’s unique climate and soil. This results in less upkeep while supporting local wildlife, pollinators, and birds.

Do you offer initial design consultations?

Yes! We start every landscape design project with a design consultation. During this session, we get to know our clients’ goals, property features, site conditions, and budget prior to moving forward with a custom landscape design plan.

What happens after the consultation?

Following your initial consultation, we will evaluate site conditions and collaboratively outline goals for native plantings and any hardscaping elements. We will then provide a proposal that details the design scope and next steps.

Why do you focus on native plants?

Native plants are adapted to the local climate and soil. As a result, they typically require less water and maintenance, support native pollinators and wildlife, and contribute to ecosystem health and resilience.

Is plant installation included?

Plant installation is usually included as part of our landscape design projects. After finalizing your design, we will install plantings and other elements according to the plan to create a thriving landscape.

We have been incredibly impressed by Garden Environments! This was our first experience having any sort of extensive landscaping work completed, and we were honestly overwhelmed. We were initially drawn to them for their commitment to using native plants, as supporting the environment is very important to us. With somewhat vague ideas as to what we were looking for, they were able to come up with a beautiful, and functional, design. Every step of the process was carefully overseen and implemented, with great care taken for our property. They also re-used items from our yard, took care not to remove more plants or trees than were necessary, and even re-planted things where it made sense. It was such a relief to be able to hand over the decision-making and know that we were in good hands. Locke did an amazing job, and we are very impressed with the outcome. If we ever decide to have more work completed, we wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to Garden Environments again!

Very pleased with the landscaping work by Garden Environments! We had a great designer that was considerate of our garden needs and communicated very well. The install team was very professional and helped make some last minute adjustments. Our yard looks wonderful - the end product exceeded my expectations! I would definitely recommend. Just be aware that landscape designers are in high demand, and it could be a long wait time between the initial consult and getting started with a landscape designer.

The design team was very willing to adjust initial designs to better fit our vision. The installation team was top notch: efficient; took to the time to make sure it was done right; cleaned up when done and followed up.
We also had Garden Environments do the maintenance after install. I can't speak highly enough of that. We had multiple previous companies that would do the minimum (rush in and rush out; need to be 'reminded' to complete certain tasks). Not so with Garden Environments. They take their time to see what needs to be addressed and they do it without having to be instructed. They tend to the landscape rather than just service it.

We had a very positive experience with Garden Environments - from our first meeting with Sheldon, working with Aurora on the design and Josh and his team on the work itself. Our front and back yards were a mess when we first moved in and we are so glad we made the investment. Admittedly, we experienced a bit of sticker shock (this is our first home, we've lived in apartments our entire adult lives, landscaping is completely foreign to us), but we are so glad we proceeded with the work. Aurora was open to modifying our plan and Josh helped us make some decisions regarding our backyard while he was here doing the planting in the front. We used Garden Environments for a large project in our back yard. We worked with Jennifer who created a design that incorporated everything we wanted from the space. She worked patiently with us on all decision points and we’re very happy with the plan and how it turned out.

Beyond design, GE built a deck and firewood enclosure; installed two stepping stone paths, a set of stone slab steps, a concrete pad and a Chapel Hill grit patio; and planted one large garden and two smaller plant beds with a nice mix of gorgeous native plants. At one point, we faced a drainage issue and they were very quick to help us find a solution and add it into the project.

Throughout the project, I was impressed by their effort, efficiency and precision. They worked hard to complete our project (done in two phases) with as little disruption as possible and finished everything within a very reasonable timeframe. I would absolutely recommend working with GE for garden design and landscaping needs!

UPDATE:
The project has finally been completed. If I were ever to do it again, I would insist on starting either before winter or spring time. The project took longer than expected, due mostly to weather & a couple of their maintenance days. Ultimately I am happy with the result.
